A
Little Bit of Local History
Whats in a Name. The name Amber is derived from the
River Amber that winds its way through the central Derbyshire hills. It was this river that formed the valley that
gave rise to the Amber Valley.
Famous Industrial & Engineering Roots. Historians cite the revolution
that took place in the Amber Valley village of Pentrich, Derbyshire as being the catalist that led
to the industrial revolution.
Famous in the Modern Day. Part of the Amber Valley region has achieved
world wide fame due to the historic mill buildings and engineering history that led to the area being given world heritage
status.
Company History
The Business Name. The name "Amber Valley Engineering" that was the choice of the founding members was chosen
because of the businesses location to give it a local identity along with a name that would also have national
significance.
Amber Valley Engineering Limited was born in 1973 at Heage, near Belper, Derbyshire.
The Location & Premises. The premises used by AVE during the years immediately after formation
were part of an old farming complex. As AVE expanded, a move to new larger premises was necessary and AVE
made the move into larger premises in Pye Bridge, Derbyshire during 1975, a former factory of Stanton
Iron Works. This is still the home of AVE today.
The premises offer a 10,000 square-foot covered manufacturing facility and large stock yard
and storage area.
The premises in Pye Bridge provide a superb location centrally in England.
This location enables us easy access to most of the UK within hours and allows us to offer a same
day response service Nationally to all of our customers.
